It’s the second continental tour that Rwandan riders have taken part this year following the UCU Africa Tour season opener, La Tropicale Amissa Bongo tour in Gabon held in early January. During that tour, Team Rwanda rider Bonaventure Uwizeyimana won Stage Five, Lambarene-Kango (143km) in a time of 3h16’31’. On the way to a historic victory, the 21-year-old Rwandan beat off stiff competition from Moroccan Lahsaini Mouhcine, who crossed the finish line five seconds later, De Troyer Tim (Wanty Groupe Gobert), GENE Yohan (Europcar) and Eritrean Teshome Meron.
