Rwandan musicians have been called on to register for the annual East African festival dubbed, DOA DOA.
The festival that takes place in Uganda aims at bringing together musicians to promote their music beyond borders.
Previously, Mani Martin is the only Rwandan musician who has been taking part in this event, but organisers say that it’s high time more musicians from Rwanda and Burundi took part.
“We actually want to make this event big and the participation of more musicians from the region will get us there based on the chances it will create when musicians meet, perform and interact,” said Philip Masembe, the Media Coordinator of Bayimba Foundation, the organiser of the festival.
Registration of the 3rd festival that will take place in Jinja, Uganda is on. It started last year and it will go through April. The festival will take place on May 6 2014, according to the organisers.
The festival will also be an opportunity to showcase products and this requires separate registration or application, according to the organisers.
It will also bring together various organisations and businesses, knowledge and technology with a view to create and develop a market for the performing arts, thereby unlocking potential in the East African creative industry.
