After a successful conclusion of the Men’s Sitball World Championships, attention turns to the women team, which is preparing to play in the 2013 (Sitball) Volleyball World Championship Qualifiers, in Uganda from November 4-11.

The week-long tournament will attract five African countries including Rwanda, Kenya, Burundi, Guinea Bissau and hosts, Uganda. It will be the first edition in the women category.

The Qualifiers tournament will be held in the Ugandan capital, Kampala, while the World Championships will be held next year in Poland. Rwanda will start residential training today under coach Jean Marie Nsengiyumva.

The team will be training at the National Paralympics Committee gymnasium at Amahoro national stadium. The team will also be using the World Championships Qualifiers as part of their early preparations for the 2016 Paralympics Games in Brazil.

According to the National Paralympics Committee Secretary General Eric Karasira, they (NPC) are not yet aware of when and where the Men’s fifth edition will be held.

Defending champions Rwanda failed to retain their title following a nerve wrecking 49-47 defeat to Germany, who won their third world title in four attempts.
