Rwandan officers honoured in Darfur

Rwandan peacekeepers serving  underRwanbatt34 (53 Infantry Battalion) in the African Union – United Nations Hybrid Operation in Darfur (Unamid)  received recognition medals during a function held recently in Zalingei, central Darfur.

The medal-awarding ceremony is aimed at recognising the job well-done by the peacekeepers in Unamid, according to a statement from Rwanda Defence Force (RDF).

The Unamid Deputy Force Commander, Maj Gen. Balla Keit (L) who presided over the ceremony, commended the Rwandan peacekeepers for a job well done in protecting not only the Darfuris, but also UN personnel operating in the area. The ceremony was also attended by the Rwanda contingent commander, Col. Ludovick Mugisha, among others.
