Spier pleased with APR’s stylish start

APR coach Andreas Spier lauded his youthful side for a brilliant start to the 2013/14 Turbo King Football league campaign after registering a resounding 6-2 victory over their sister side Marines FC at Stade de Kigali last Sunday.

Speaking to Times Sport, Spier who has started his full season in charge of the military side, said,“It is good to start the season with such dazzling performance,”

“It is very positive, we created many chances and players understand the style of play that we want to employ this season and are all thirsty to prove their best.”

“I have 26 players all fit for first-team position and we believe, with this commitment and determination, APR will be able to exhibit good football this season,” added Spier.

Albert Ngabo, Michel Ndahinduka, Nova Bayama, Jean Baptista Mugiraneza, and substitute pair of Hegman Ngoma and Barnabe Mubumbyi were all on score sheet as they routed Marines.

Veteran defender Bonaventure Hategikimana and Bertin Dusenge scored the consolation goals for Marines.

APR’s next league encounter, against Esperance, will be played on Sunday at Mumena Stadium on Sunday. The first crunch tie of the season which will pit rivals SC Kiyovu and Rayon Sports will be played on Saturday at Amahoro stadium.

Gicumbi who lost their opening match against Rayon Sports will host Police in Gicumbi; Espoir host AS Kigali in Rusizi while Etincelles will entertain AS Muhanga at Umuganda stadium.

Other matches scheduled for Sunday include Musanze hosting Amagaju while Marines will face Mukura in Rubavu.
