The national men’s sitting volleyball has entered intensive training ahead of the upcoming 2013 Sitball Volleyball World Championship.
The team started training on Monday in readiness for the tournament slated for October 11-12 at the National Paralympics Committee Indoor Stadium in Kigali.
The 12-member team is under the tutelage of coach Elie Manirarora.
Manirarora said, “I think we have a very good chance to successfully defend our title because we started preparations early. I am planning two friendly matches against the national champions (Gisagara) in a bid to assess the level of the team.”
Rwanda will face seven other national teams from Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo, Germany (two teams), Kenya, Switzerland, and Uganda.
Rwanda will be looking to make the most of home advantage in their quest to retain the world title.
