Intergrated Polytechnic Regional Centre (IPRC) Kigali have retained its cricket title by beating rivals Kagarama SS in the 2013 annual Girls’ Schools Cricket Week final by 92 runs.

Egidia Uwimana displayed a match winning performance as she led IPRC to the title in an entertaining final at the Kicukiro cricket ground over the weekend.

Uwimana, who was later voted the player of the tournament, opened the batting after winning the toss and electing to bat.

She scored 66 runs not out.

Helped by Antoinette Uwimbabazi with three wickets, IPRC tormented Kagarama’s batting which led to a low score of 50 all out.

Kagarama’s chase started off on a wrong note when opener Annet Kagire departed for two runs, with only Sharon Mbabazi (24) managing a double digit that couldn’t however do much.

Individual accolades went to Uwimana of IPRC (Player of Series), Josee Marie Muhoza of IPRC (Best Batter), Ritah Nzaramba of Kagarama (Best Bowler) and Gloria M from ADB Nyarutarama (Best Fielder).
