SC Kiyovu have strengthened their squad further ahead of the return of the league come September 28 by signing  Burundian international Laudit Mavugo from AS Kigali and Congolese winger Ali Musa Sova from Burundi’s Vital’O for an undisclosed fee.

The development was confirmed yesterday by Kiyovu chairman Norbert Sendenge.

“Everything has been sorted out with them, they are now our players,” he said.

Former Police FC striker Mavugo joins Kiyovu after AS Kigali management took a decision to release all foreign players this season, in preference of Rwandan players.

Sendenge added, “It’s important that we strengthen our team ahead of the new season. The players we have signed so far are all very good and we hope they will deliver.”

Kiyovu, under new coach Gilbert Yaoundé Kanyankore, have been the busiest of the top five clubs in the transfer market.

And according to Sendenge, the club is also close to landing 18-year-old winger Jean Marie Girukwishaka and his elder brother, defender Michel Girukwishaka.

The Nyamirambo-based side recently finalised the signing of defensive midfielder Yusuf ‘Rure’ Murekezi, and playmaker Christian Mbirizi, both from Vital’O.

Other new signings include striker Blaise Itangiteka from Sec Academy, midfielder Didier Harerimana, La Jeunesse trio of Ali Kayambe, Yusuf Munyakayanza and Jimmy Kakure as well as goalie Evariste Mutuyimana from Police.
