Jug Cup Semi-final
Uganda 35-5 Rwanda
Uganda 33-0 Kenya Home Boyz
Grenoble 12-7 Belgium
Samurai 34-14 Western Bulls
Main Cup: Final
Kenya Shujaa 40-7 Australia
RWANDA’S national rugby team Silverbacks returned home last evening a disappointed side after recording their worst ever performance in the annual Safaricom 7s tournament which concluded on Sunday in Nairobi.
The team registered its worst performance ever since making their debut in the tournament four years ago. Silverbacks lost all their preliminary games; 31-0 to South Africa’s Western Province, 62-0 to Kenya Shujaa and 24-12 against Kenyan side Mwamba.
This threw them in the Jug trophy semi-final contest but they still lost to Uganda 35-5. Uganda went on to win the Jug final after defeating Kenya Home Boyz 33-0.
Kenya Shujaa, who thumped Silverbacks 62-0 in Pool E, lived up to their pre-tournament billing as favourites by lifting the 2013 Safaricom Sevens main competition.
In the Main Cup final, Shujaa won by a commanding 40-7 victory over Australia Renegades.
Earlier on, Kenya’s second side, Morans, defeated impressive Western Province 12-10 to clinch the third place with invitations side CBA Samurai winning the Plate with a 34-14 victory over Kakamega’s Western Bulls.
