Who are the 2013 Groove Awards nominees?

The list of the 8th gospel Groove Awards nominees is out. The nominees were announced on Saturday at Lemigo hotel in Kimihurura.

The list of the 8th gospel Groove Awards nominees is out. The nominees were announced on Saturday at Lemigo hotel in Kimihurura.

The nominees in the category of male gospel artiste   are Alphonse Bahati, Eddie Mico, Patient Bizimana, Simon Kabera and Theogene Uwiringiyimana. While Aline Gahongayire, Gaby Kamanzi, Goreth Uzamukunda, Liliane Kabaganza and Clementine Uwitonze, aka Tonzi are competing for the Female Gospel Artiste accolade.

“These are the nominees according to the forms filled by journalists, especially those  reporting on gospel music,” said Joy Wachira, the manager of Groove Awards.

Other categories include; Song of the year, Video of the year, Choir of the year, and Song writer of the year. Others are Dance group of the year, Gospel group of the year, Worship song of the year, Audio producer of the year and Hip-Hop song of the year among others.

The public can now vote for their favourite artistes through SMS. Type the word GROOVE and the nominee code and send to 4333 or log onto www.grooveawards.co.rw to vote online. Voting is open until October12, 2013.

The winners will be announced at a gala Award ceremony which will be held at PSF Expo Ground, in Kigali on October 13 at 5pm.

Groove Awards was established in 2004 in Kenya to celebrate gospel music in Africa but with a particular emphasis on East Africa. More than 600 artistes and groups have been awarded since the inception of the awards.
