APR vs Rusizi 12pm
KBC vs Rusizi 10am
Rusizi basketball club will be eager to consolidate their second-place position in the national league this weekend when they take on APR and KBC on Saturday and Sunday respectively.
The Southern Province-based outfit, who beat both their weekend opponents in respective first round games, are hoping to win both games and keep pressure on the reigning champions and table leaders, Espoir, who were due to host Cercle Sportif de Kigali (CSK) at Amahoro Indoor Stadium last evening.
On Saturday, former champions APR host Rusizi at Amahoro indoor stadium, starting at 12pm local time, while on Sunday, Kigali Basketball Club (KBC) will entertain the Rusizi side at SOS courts in Kacyiru, starting at 10am.
Talking to Saturday Sport ahead of the weekend clashes, Rusizi head coach Mark Tunga said “We have two tough league games against strong opponents but we are well prepared and ready for both matches.”
“We beat both teams in first round but we had hosted them, it is going to be hard playing away from home. But my players know what is at stake because if we win both games, we stand a very good chance of winning the league title,” he explained.
Tunga will be hoping that his star players including team captain Alphonse Habyarimana and point guard Robert Ihirwe are on top of the game in both games.
Also today, 30-Plus take on United Generation Basketball (UGB), starting at 10am at Amahoro.
In women’s category, Rwanda Allied Peace for Progress (RAPP) will host defending champions APR and the two will clash again tomorrow, both games will be at Amahoro indoor stadium, beginning at 10am.
