After losing in all but three opening matches on Monday, Rwandan teams managed to win 10 matches, draw one and lost two out of thirteen matches played on Tuesday in the ongoing East African post primary games in Lira, Uganda.
College Amis des Enfants (boys’ basketball) and St. Aloys Rwamagana (boys’ handball) were the two teams who picked losses of the day, while local football champions APE Rugunga were held to a 1-all draw against home side St. Leo’s Kyegobe.
Amis des Enfants were beaten 64-37 by Kenya’s Upper hills, but all four (two boys and two girls) teams representing Rwanda in volleyball, won their respective matches of the day.
St. Joseph Kabgayi beat Uganda’s Mbogo Mixed in boys’ volleyball and Umbili of South Sudan in girls’ volleyball 3-0 respectively; while Lycee de Nyanza beat Burundi’s ETS Kamenge 3-1 (boys) and GS Indangaburezi beat LT Saint Luc of Burundi 3-0 (girls).
Whereas Saint Aloys Rwamagana lost 28-18 to Kenya’s Makongeni SS in boys’ handball, ES Kigoma easily beat Gombe SS of Uganda 31-19, while APAPEG Cyuru and ET Mukingi girls’ teams also won 12-9 and 11-8 over Kawanda of Uganda and Lycee de Rutovu of Burundi respectively.
APAER Kabuga picked a 1-0 win over Uganda Janan SS in girls’ football, while ESIG Rubavu also beat Kathungi from Kenya1-0. Rwanda’s lonely representative in rugby, ET Mukingi won 12-5 over Mbarara High School of Uganda.
