Kigali Cricket Club’s skipper Hassan Zaki set a new record by becoming the first local cricketer to score a century on Rwandan soil in the ongoing UAE EXCHANGE & XPRESS MONEY T20 league.

Zaki smashed 12 fours and 8 sixes on his way to making 116 runs from a record 36 balls to help his team to a massive 207 runs in the allotted 20 overs.

“Dropping me at 3 runs gave me courage to go on smashing the ball all over the park,” he said after being named man of the match.

Right Guard’s chase began well with the opening pair of Joshua Mwanja (53 runs) and Eric Dusingizimana (39 runs). The two put up a spirited show hitting over 100 runs in just 8 overs but both later fell to the good bowling of Asif Jaka.

Right Guards CC bowler Hirwa Alain Dube, who took 3 wickets, said, “Our bowlers bowled very badly today, giving so many extras and short balls. I kept my line and length and forced Zaki to make a mistake and finally got him out.”

KCC’s blowers Asif Jaka and Harish Patel got 3 and 5 wickets respectively.

In the other game, Challengers Cricket Club (CCC) beat Indorwa CC by 1 wicket. Mehbub Shaikh did the greatest damage to Indorwa batsmen by getting 4 wickets.

In the women’s league, White Clouds CC finally got their winning ways back when they beat archrivals Kigali Angels CC by 41 runs. WCCC batted first and scored 169/6 with Mary Maina (40 runs) and Betty Mukunzi (39 runs) being the top scorers.
