KARONGI — The minister of internal security, Musa Fazil Harerimana has petitioned Gakenke District officials to address internal leadership wrangles and find speedy solutions to these problems not later than January next year.
He was speaking on Saturday, while opening a retreat for Gakenke District officials in Northern Province held at Centre Bethanie in Karongi district.
The Minister said if such problems are left without addressing them , these are bound to be discussed and considered in the next year’s district performance contracts.
‘Performance contracts have been seen as a weapon to end such wrangles. You need to sit together as a team with an intent of resolving such issues before thinking of taking them to the higher levels’, he said.
The two-day retreat which brought together 76 leaders and staff of Gakenke District focused on issues that have deterred the district’s progress in the recent years.
Gakenke district witnessed internal wrangles that pressurized the district advisory committee to organize the retreat for the whole district staff.
Zephylin Ntakirutimana, Gakenke district advisory council president said the retreat was meant to find lasting solutions to different problems that have caused the internal wrangles.
‘The district has suffered from a crippling case of internal leadership wrangles. We really want to come up with concrete resolutions that will end these wrangles’, he said.
The minister requested the district officials to be open during the retreat by revealing all that has been impending them from working smoothly with a view of coming up with credible solutions.
‘Such wrangles were exposed this year in many districts especially in the Western Province. You need to frankly address such issues by coming up with credible leadership engagement plans’, he said.
One of the internal wrangles highlighted centred around issues such as nepotism, lack of co-operation and team work as well as favoritism.
Ntakirutimana assured the minister that come next year the district is bound to see a marked improvement in its development outcomes.
