As financial uncertainty looms large over world’s economies, several brand names have moved in quickly  to cut on their spending or to look for methods on how to check on it and this is what Rwanda’s most successful football team APR Fc is doing.

In an effort to supplement its annual budget that is estimated at Frw 300m, the military side is set to organize a fundraising drive this Sunday at Amahoro national sports complex’s Petit Stade, Remera.

According to the club’s Secretary General Aime Kayinamura, almost 200 private companies and parastatals have been approached to give a helping hand in a noble cause as the team prepares for a grinding season that will include participation in the Caf Confederation Cup and several local competitions.

Kayinamura told Times Sport yesterday that all the known companies were invited to the day’s long fundraising for the nine-time national league champions.

“Different companies in this country were invited to support the club on the fundraising day. The fundraising is set to attract even many participants.”

“Among other invitees will be several government officials and head of businesses,” Kayinamura said.

Frw. 5000 and Frw. 10000 as the entrance fees to the event which will also see participants win prizes thanks to a lottery that has been organised.

Tickets worth Frw. 1000 each will be sold and lucky winners are expected to win fully paid for air tickets to Dubai, Bujumbura, Entebbe and Brussels respectively. Other prizes to be won include Television sets, Desktop PCs and club T-shirts.

During the event the club will also unveil its new signings before they take part in a game that will be pitching APR against national football league returnees La Jeunesse at Amahoro stadium.

According to Kayinamura, APR spent a lot of money during the recruitment process. The army side spent on several high profile players who include: Janvier Bessala Bokungu from DC Mutema Pembe, Ismail Nshutinamagara and Patrick Mafisango from Atraco, Jean Claude Iranzi from SC Kiyovu, Arafat Serugendo from Mukura, Kimalwa Mwembo from St.Eloi Lupopo, Guy Basisila from TP Mazembe and Bokota Labama Kamana.
