US did well on Darfur

Dear editor,

Last month, the Rwandan government said it would see to it that its troops in Darfur are catered for more than they are today.

This I believe is what pushed the US to send the equipment that the Rwanda Defense Forces (RDF) received yesterday. This investment is worth the cause.

Nevertheless, the never ending war in Darfur, is a matter that has to be dealt with, at all angles. There should be no more blood shed in the land of Africa.

The fact that peace and security have largely continued to elude the African continent, the equipment will help in quickening the peace process.

With Rwanda having close to 3000 peacekeeping troops in Darfur, surely the equipment will be of great help to the soldiers and police personnel.

The obvious way to stopping a war and reduce control of the enemy, is if counter attacks are done. Victory is only assured if the winning side has more sophisticated and powerful weapons and equipments.

In this case, R D F has greater advantage and these materials are a significant boost to RDF’s peacekeeping efforts in the troubled region of Darfur.
