Amavubi Stars players spent the whole of yesterday at Bambino resort relaxing after being given a day off by head coach Tucak Blanko.
The Croat gave the players yesterday off after a week long intensive training as they prepare for the opening 2010 World Cup/African Nations Cup qualifier against Mauritania in Kigali May 31.
The squad, which had fun at Bambino resort yesterday, comprised 24 local players plus three professionals who included Jabo Mutsinzi (US Creteil Lusitanos, France, Mwizerwa Ngabo (FC Wiltz 71, Luxembourg) and Hamad Ndikumana Katauti (Anorthosis, Cyprus).
After the home tie against Mauritania on Saturday, Tucak’s men travel to Addis Ababa to take on Ethiopia a week later before hosting Morocco on June 17 in group eight.
The other four professionals; Olivier Karekezi (Hamarkameratene, Norway), Fritz Emeran Nkusi (Levadiakos, Greece), Said Abedi Makasi (Hapoel Be’er Sheva, Israel) and Bobo Bola (Laundskbois, Sweden) are expected in the country any time this week.
Meanwhile, Mauritania landed in the country yesterday afternoon, five days ahead of Saturday’s game.
