Kenya Prisons Volleyball Club defeated Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA) to qualify for the semi-finals of the on-going Africa Women Club Championships on Monday evening in Cairo, Egypt.
Prisons beat RRA in straight sets 3-0 (25-11, 25-17, and 26-24) and will face the defending champions Carthage of Tunisia, while RRA will play against Egypt’s Shams for 5 to 8 positions, at 6pm (Rwandan time).
Prisons’ big gun Mercy Moim led the scorers with impressive 22 points, while Revenue's Serphine led the losers with 13 points.
Carthage dominated Shams in an epic 3-1 (25- 8, 20-25, 27-25, 25-23) match up to get their semi-finals slot. It was Carthage’s second consecutive win against the Egyptians, as they beat them 3-2 in 2017 finals in Tunisia.
Another Kenyan team, Pipeline, booked a spot in the last four with a dazzling 5 set thriller against Bafia from Cameroon. KPC won 3-2 (25-12, 23-25, 25-14, 23-25, 15-6) to get closer to another continental success.
Meanwhile, hosts Ahly progressed to the last four after crushing Nigeria’s Customs 3-0 (25-13, 25-9, 29-27) in the last quarterfinal match.
