Interforce FC have started their second division football league campaign on a winning note after defeating United Stars 1-0 on match-day 1 at FERWAFA ground on Sunday.

After an evenly balanced first half, Interforce FC broke the deadlock in the 51st minute through striker Revocate Tuyizere, whose goal proved to be the match-winner.

Interforce FC replaced Isonga FC in the second division after missing out last year. They are in Group B along with University of Rwanda FC, Rugende FC, La Jeunesse, Intare FC, Heroes FC, Vision JN, AS Muhanga, SEC Academy, Hope FC and United Stars.

United Stars were in Group A last season and finished fifth with 20 points.

Interforce FC head coach Ildephonse Nkotanyi said, “The boys were committed and determined to deliver a good result, but we have got to focus on next fixtures and see how we can get more points on board.”

Meanwhile, Rwamagana City FC, who had been promoted to the topflight league last season only to be demoted for fielding an illegible player during the semi-final play-off against Miroplast FC, were held to a 2-2 draw by visiting Vision FC.

Pepiniere FC, who were relegated from the Azam Rwanda Premier League last season, managed to hold Sorwathe FC to a 1-1 draw.
