Editor, RE: “Tribute to Silas Majoro, Rwanda’s towering patriot and educationist” (The New Times, October 5). Teachers are the pillars of a nation and their value to a country’s development is yet to be fully recognised. One of the wise men said, “Destroying any nation does not require the use of atomic bombs or the use of long range missiles. It only requires lowering the quality of education and allow all malpractices in schools.” Men and women who have served and continue to serve in these capacities deserve high respect and they made us who we all are today.
