Celebrity scribe Anita Pendo and her partner Alphonse Ndada, a footballer with AS Kigali, welcomed their first child this morning.
The news was confirmed by Ndada, who told The New Times in a phone interview that both the mother and baby are in good condition, and are waiting to be discharged from the hospital in Kigali.
“I am so excited, we have been waiting for so long and he is finally here,” said the excited new father.
Anita is also an MC, popularly known in some of the local music events such as the annual Primus Guma Guma Superstar.
The 32-year-old is said to be "ecstatic" at the arrival of her son, whose name is yet to be revealed. She was photographed on Sunday at AZ Car Wash opposite Remera Taxi Park, where she took part in a fundraising event.
Several celebrities and friends of the couple took to the social media to send their congratulatory messages.
“Am an Uncle Once again. Let us celebrate and play it again one more time. Congssista...ooo @pendoanita” posted DJ Pius, with a video of Pendo singing to his hit Play it Again.
“Yes, He really deserves the glory. #congratulations @pendoanita for the #newborn, #uncle #alpha is singing #merci#papa right now”, singer Alpha Rwirangira also posted.
“Congratulations to #Pendo who has welcomed a baby now! @pendoanita#magicfmrwanda family,” posted an Instagram page of Magic FM, her employers.
