The national handball league resumes this weekend following the conclusion of the commemoration week of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.

The league returns with two fixtures involving the two title contenders Police and APR, who are fighting to keep their title hopes alive.

Table leaders APR will entertain Nyakabanda at Kimisagara Youth Center ground at 10 am seeking to win to remain on top of the table, while reigning champions Police will be up against University of Rwanda, College of Arts and Social Sciences (UR-CASS) in Huye.

APR lead the table with 28 points in 10 games, one point ahead of second-placed and still unbeaten Police, who have however played a game less.

Nyakabanda are third with 20 points and they will be aiming to give Anaclet Bagirishya’s side a run for their money as they also look to close the gap at the top.

Police, the three-time league winners, remain the only unbeaten side in the league so far this season and will be overwhelming favourites to stretch their winning streak against a UR-CASS side, which is second from bottom with eight points in eight games.
