Police 51-30 Inyemeramihigo
UR-CASS 30-21 GS Rambura
Reigning handball league champions Police have taken a very crucial step in their attempt to win their fourth consecutive league title after overcoming Rubavu-based College Inyemeramihigo on Saturday in Rubavu to open an eight-point lead on top of the league table.
Antoine Ntabanganyimana’s side defeated Inyemeramihigo 51-30 to move to 27 points hence stretching their unbeaten run to nine games making them the only unbeaten side in the league so far.
Gilbert Mutuyimana and Zacharie Tuyishime were Police’s best scorers contributing ten and eight goals respectively while Inyemeramihigo’s Etienne Nizeyumukiza was the game’s best scorer netting a total of 11 goals; however it wasn’t enough to guide his side to victory.
Following this win, Police are eight points ahead of their traditional archrivals APR with 19 points in the second place, though they have played two games less and if they manage to win all of them, they can cut the difference to two points.
Meanwhile in the other only game that was held this weekend, University of Rwanda, College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS) defeated bottom side Groupe Scholaire Rambura 30-21 with Olivier Ndagijimana netting eight goals.
Ecole Secondaire Kigoma are third with 16 points same points as fourth placed ADEGI and fifth placed Saint Aloys Rwamagana while Nyakabanda are sixth with 14 points same tally of points as Inyemeramihigo in the seventh place.
Ecole Secondaire Urumuri are eighth with eight points while UR CASS stand in the ninth place with six points while Rambura are bottom with three points.
