For those familiar with the city politics, it was not just a change of guard, it was a strong statement, a message that the city needs to shift gear and promote efficiency.

The two new faces were not just every day Tom, Dick and Harry; they had a proven track record in their previous occupations.

The new Executive Secretary, Didier Sagashya, was the Director General of Rwanda Housing Authority and saw through the successful completion of the Kigali Convention Centre that had been besought by problems from the word go.

Kigali residents should brace for some positive changes because the above is a winning team, result driven and it has a history of delivering.

But they will not make a significant mark if everything is laid on their shoulders. They will need every Kigalian’s efforts in setting new heights in a city that has become a template for other African cities to emulate.

The new team must be aware that their new task is not a vacation, they will meet many challenges, but as long as they apply themselves as they did in their previous occupations, they will sail through.

The city, as well as the country as whole, is on the roll and it needs partners who can keep up with its pace. The team is in place; are you ready to join it?
