Newly appointed APR FC head coach Gilbert Yaoundé Kanyankore has admitted that lack of coordination between his players was the reason his team lost the first game of the 2016 EAC Military Games on Monday.

APR, representing the Rwanda Defense Force (RDF), went down 1-0 to Kenya’s Ulinzi FC during the opening game of the 10th edition of the East African Military Games and Culture events that got underway on Monday at Amahoro stadium.

The lone goal was scored by striker Hassan Mohammed in the 10thminute to earn his side three crucial points. Other teams in the competitions include Uganda and Tanzania, who faceoff today at Kigali Regional Stadium in Nyamirambo.

“We lost the game because we lacked coordination amongst ourselves. We started with six new players, in addition to the fact that we haven’t played any pre-season matches, which made it so difficult for the players,” admitted Kanyankore.

Rwanda will return to action on Sunday against Uganda seeking to win and boost their chances of winning the football title. The four teams will face each other on a round robin format and the team with the most points will be crowned champions.

The RDF football team claimed victory last year in Kampala after collecting seven points out of twelve (7/12) followed by Kenya and Uganda with six points each.
