Bugesera Football Club have appointed Vincent Mashami as their new head coach on a one-year contract until end of the 2016/17 season, and given the task to finish in the top six in the league.
Mashami, 34, replaces Ali Bizimungu, who spent one season with the Nyamata-based outfit and guided the club finish in a respectable 7th position with 37 points, on their league debut.
The former Isonga FC head coach and APR assistant coach, has been tasked not only to lead the club into the top six but also play entertaining football, Times Sport understands.
The news of Mashimi’s signing was confirmed on Sunday by Bugesera FC president Jean Claude Gahigi.
“What we agreed with Mashami is to guide the team to at least finish among the top six next season and playing entertaining football, we want him also to develop the young players, who we believes are the cornerstone of Bugesera FC,” he said.
He added: “For the titles, it may not come in one year but we know he has to deliver. We will try to give him the support he needs to ensure the team achieves its targets in the upcoming season.”
One of things that Mashami will have to improve is the team’s way record—in the just concluded 2015/16 seaosn, Bugesera managed just a solitary win away from their Nyamata ground.
The former Isonga, APR and Junior Wasps assistant coach will join the ‘Reds’ at the start of next month to begin preparations for the new season.
After signing, Mashami said: “I’ve had a few discussions with the club’s top management and I’m happy with the direction the club is taking. I will do all I can to make the team better.”
