Rushaki Sector residents to be connected to the grid

GICUMBI – The Governor of the Northern Province, Aimé Bosenibamwe on Tuesday assured Rushaki Sector residents that plans are underway to enable them to be connected to the national electric grid.

GICUMBI – The Governor of the Northern Province, Aimé Bosenibamwe on Tuesday assured Rushaki Sector residents that plans are underway to enable them to be connected to the national electric grid. 

“The dam at Ngoma in Rushaki Sector will soon generate abundant power for you. This shall be in addition to electricity connections from Mulindi Cell, where a contractor has already been assigned to carry out the works before the end of this year,” said Bosenibamwe. 

He was addressing Rushaki Sector residents after participating in communal work, in which residents dug water trenches to prevent soil erosion. 

He called on residents to join the sector credit and savings scheme so as to access loans for supporting their income generating projects. 

The Governor also warned residents living along the Uganda-Rwanda border against using the porous border to sneak out of the country. 

Mayor Bonane Nyangezi, called on residents to work hard to promote agriculture and livestock farming, in order to eradicate poverty and guarantee food security.

He urged residents against idleness, advising them to use the available time for profitable income generating ventures. “No time should be wasted because time is money,” he said.

He further called on residents to embrace family planning and undertake protection measures to avoid contracting HIV/AIDS.
