RE: “Rwanda, MasterCard sign deal to promote financial inclusion” (The New Times, May 13).

As more scores of success come our way, through cashless economy, youth should open their eyes in order to harness the unfolding opportunities. Youth need not hesitate to lead the way in attainment of financial education — schools have to play a critical role in preparing the young generation to face future challenges among which unemployment is enemy number one.

Financial education will indeed accelerate financial literacy upon which financial inclusion is premised. We have seen the fruits of Umwalimu SACCO and this is the time for teachers to pay back to government in kind, by empowering the next generation to make the most of this important deal reached between Rwandan government and MasterCard.
