Rwandans should continue working with the Police!

EDITOR,

It’s with a sigh of relief that I’ve learnt that Marie Nyiramungu, a Rwamagana resident who is suspected of having killed her husband and four children and then run away, was apprehended through the cooperation between the Rwanda National Police and the community.

There is a lesson in all this. Only through the cooperation of the community could have this arrest been possible and this was proved beyond all reasonable doubt when she was apprehended.

If members of the community hadn’t reported her presence she would have been a fugitive a lot longer to the detriment of our security.

I hereby urge all Rwandans to act as the first line of defense in the fight against criminality. Make sure you know your neighbors and those who live and work around your area.

You never know; that suspicious looking person might be someone who is fleeing from the law. In the same vein, I ask the National Police to publicize the mugshots of those people they are trying to track down. That would help us, the people, help them in their work to keep Rwandans safe and sound.
