20,000 trees planted in Huye

HUYE – Police in Huye district on Tuesday joined residents of Kinyinya cell, Maraba sector in planting trees during the launch of the environment week.

HUYE – Police in Huye district on Tuesday joined residents of Kinyinya cell, Maraba sector in planting trees during the launch of the environment week.

At least 20,000 trees were planted in Maraba sector.
Speaking after the exercise, the Huye District Police commander, Supt. Etienne Rutayisire called upon residents to protect the planted trees for them grow.

“It is such an amazing activity. Residents responded massively to our appeal and together we planted trees. If we want to benefit from such gestures we need to first protect them,” Supt. Rutayisire said.

He reaffirmed the Police force’s commitment to work with residents in different development activities, adding that their cooperation and collaboration was necessary at all times.

The Huye district Mayor, François Uhagaze said such Police outreach activities will strengthen the ties between the force and the local population.

He added that the cooperation between civilians and police helps in information sharing which is necessary to fight crimes.
