Rwanda’s unique culture that was showcased in the annual International Tourism Trade Fair in Berlin (ITB Berlin) led to the country winning Best African Exhibitor Award for the fourth time in a row.
Speaking during a press conference at Rwanda Development Board, the Director of Tourism in RDB, Emmanuel Werabe, said that Rwanda’s success is attributed to several unique products that were exhibited at the fair.
They included; an excellent stand, exhibition of customer hospitality, style of dressing, weaving of baskets and as well as the country’s elegant cultural dance.
“Visitors to our stand were given a nice reception and served with Rwandan tea and coffee, they really appreciated” he explained.
The CEO of RDB, John Gara, said that Rwanda’s win in Berlin is another step forward towards achieving the country’s vision 2020.
“I am very pleased about that win because it created more knowledge about Rwanda and this will bring in more tourists” he said
“This award for us in Rwanda is part of our process of doing better in the tourism industry”.
The team that represented Rwanda revealed that they exhibited many of the country’s unique tourism products which include; the Canopy walk in Nyungwe Natural Forest, the first of its kind in East Africa, “Kwita Izina “ (Gorrilla naming ceremony), Umunezero boat rides on Lake Kivu and the interpretation centre in Nyungwe forest which gives tourists a whole mapping of the park.
The annual International Tourism Trade Fair in Berlin attracted thousands of participants drawn from all over the world.
