Ex-Combatants benefit from support

MUSANZE - 17 ex-combatants with severe disabilities from the Northern Province have been given fully completed houses within the designated settlement area for vulnerable groups located in Susa village, Musanze district. The houses were built by the Rwanda Demobilization and Reintegration Commission-RDRC.

The initiative targeted the ex-combatants within the first category of the disabled  which include the blind, and the crippled. According to Fred Nyamurangwa, a commissioner  with RDRC, over 160 houses for the disabled ex combatants in the first category nationwide have been constructed so far.

He revealed that after being categorized as falling under the first category the beneficiary is given a  house along with a monthly allowance of Rwf50,000.

During the hand over ceremony for the houses the ex-combatants were encouraged to join money generating programs to boost their incomes.
