A draw is all APR needs to regain top spot on the national league table. The defending champions return to action this afternoon with a tricky tie against Electrogaz at Nyamirambo’s regional stadium.

On paper, morale is expected to be sky high for the ten-time league champions after their progress in the lucrative Orange Champions League.

The army-side stunned many when they trounced Angola’s Recreativo de Libolo in their backyard to qualify for the competition’s second round and Erik Paske will be hoping that his guns draw inspiration from that particular performance for today’s clash.

Presently, APR, with two games in hand, is a point adrift of table leaders Rayon Sport who have 31 points. A win today will take APR to 33 points while a draw would still leave them top on goal difference.

In the other day’s game, sixth placed Police host Marines at Mumena. Police, who have struggled ever since Jimmy Gatete’s departure to St. George will turn to forward Roger Tchouassi for goals.

Tomorrow, three games are on cards. 2008 league champions Atraco entertain Musanze at Nyamirambo’s regional stadium while heads are expected to roll when heavy weights Etincelles and Rayon face off at Umuganda stadium.

The two sides, which are still in the race for this year’s league title, are separated by two points.

Meanwhile, AS Kigali will need to beat Amagaju in order for them to move out of the relegation zone. The city council side is a point behind the visitors.
