When the President of Spanish Football team, Barcelona F.C, Joan Laporta visited Rwanda on Friday, he left Rwandan Barcelona fans wanting more.
Local fans of all age groups chanted “Barcelona” over and over again, as they rubbed shoulders and walked with the Barcelona boss through Kiziba Refugee Camp in Karongi district.
It was the first time the Catalan boss has visited a refugee camp, even though his football club supports many refugees across the world through its partnership with Unicef.
Laporta told the enchanted crowd, “You are stronger than the Barcelona players, the first team players are very proud that the Foundation is working for refugees.”
Laporta’s words of wisdom and courage was enough gave hope and strength to the refugees who were left smiling.
