APR skipper Patrick Mafisango insists that his side can stun African Champions TP Mazembe in the second round of the Orange Champions League. The two sides are expected to lock horns on March 18 for the first leg which will be held in Kigali.
The Congolese midfielder cum defender told Times Sport yesterday that APR is a big club and has the quality to upset TP Mazembe.
“There is confidence in the side that we can go a long way in this competition.”
APR stormed the second round of the lucrative competition after Saturday’s 1-0 win over Recreativo in the Angolan town of Calulo.
Ivorian born midfielder Selly Rogba Didier ensured APR’s qualification with a 78th minute winner to give the military side a 3-2 aggregate. The first leg in Kigali had ended in a 2-all draw.
The first leg between APR and TP Mazembe will be played on the weekend of March 19-21 while the return leg is scheduled for April 2-4.
Last month, TP Mazembe won the CAF Super Cup after a 2-0 victory over Stade Malien of Mali. The Zambian pair of Stopila Sunzu and Given Singuluma scored the goals.
