Baby Wonder (real name Amos Matsiko) who is both a singer and producer, is planning a smarmy fledged return to Rwanda to re-launch his musical career and he will shift his Kampala based Tambo Studioz to Kigali.

“My plan is to settle here. I want to join hands with other musicians here so that we can take Rwandan music to the rest of East Africa,” said Wonder admitting that Rwandan music has not yet hit the regional market.

“My studio and the whole Tambo Crew are all going to be based in Kigali,” says the 22 year old who claims that he is set to record a duet ‘Dream’ with the U.S Senegalese born star Akon, on Akon’s invitation.

“He invited me. Part of the song will be recorded in Tembo Studioz but the rest of the work will be done in the Konvict studio, am so excited about this lifetime chance.”

A brother to Sgt. Robert Kabera of the army jazz band, Wonder says he is currently working with his promoter Happy Nshuti at the Remera based One Way Production studio, on a number of songs including a duet ‘Hakuna Noma’ with Sgt. Kabera.

Baby Wonder already has a number of songs to his name including “Ntutinye” whose video received good airtime on Ugandan televisions. Others include “Wacha Waseme”, “Wacha Sikiriza” and “Dimbuka”. His songs are a fusion of Kinyarwanda, Kishwahili, Luganda and English.

“Am currently working on a song about President Kagame, on how he liberated the country and his achievements. It could be political but I have no regrets, he should be commended for what Rwanda is today,” he confidently asserts.

He calls upon radio presenters to accord airplay to upcoming musicians as it is the only way to expose them-as it is done in other countries.

Tambo Crew boasts of several upcoming Rwanda artists including Sheiza, Keza, Nom G and Hunter among others.
