Karate clubs in the country converged at Lycee de Kigali yesterday to commemorate the national heroes day.

The one-day event dubbed ‘maintaining heroism and participating in government programs’ attracted ten clubs namely; Hantei, Ippon, Aigle, Samouari, Mamarou, Kaisho, Shisei, Kensei, Fayt, Tiger and National University of Rwanda (UNR).

The master of ceremony at the event Brigadier General Alexis Ibambasi told the players who were mainly young children under twelve years to use the sport in a positive way and try to emulate the heroes in Rwanda’s history.

“You should not use your karate knowledge to harm your friends at school. Good karate players use their knowledge to build the country. We should all try and emulate what our heroes did for this country,” the General said.
One hundred forty participants took part in the event.
