Do Banks live up to their values?

Editor, I write this letter with a lot of disbelief about just how some banks interpret the word’s ‘customer service’. I have on a number of occasions visited my bank to do various transactions but at no point have I spent less than one hour just withdrawing my money. And surprisingly at this particular bank, we are usually less than five customers at a single time.

Editor,

I write this letter with a lot of disbelief about just how some banks interpret the word’s ‘customer service’. I have on a number of occasions visited my bank to do various transactions but at no point have I spent less than one hour just withdrawing my money. And surprisingly at this particular bank, we are usually less than five customers at a single time.

What I find particularly ironic is the fact that among the values they pretend to have includes ‘excellence in the way they give their services’; l can’t help but ask, “Excellence in what”?

Yesterday, as usual, I walked into one of their newer bank branches, wrote a check, put it at the counter and waited; I guess I was fourth in the queue. I waited for 45 minutes yet two of the customer’s I found weren’t served yet.

The counter had one teller, and when one of the customer, who looked irritated by the speed of the service, inquired why there was only one teller, he was told that the other teller had gone for lunch, yet it was already three in the afternoon!
