NYAMASHEKE – The Mayor of Nyamasheke district, Jean Batista Habyarimana on Tuesday launched the construction of a market in Bushenge sector in the district.
Habyarimana called upon area residents and local leaders to work together so that the construction can be complete on schedule.
“It’s your responsibility as concerned residents to collaborate with the district authorities to enable the successful construction of this market, and on time,” he said.
He pointed out that the new market will boost various economic activities which will also boost the district’s revenue base.
The new market is set to cost Rwf270 million, funded by Common Development Fund (CDF).
Several residents who attended the ceremony applauded the district and the government for the initiative.
“We have been in total isolation for long. This market will no doubt go a long way in boosting the quality of services we offer,” Dativa Murebwayire, a trader said.
