NEC warns against breaching election guidelines

NGOMA- Political parties acting contrary to stipulated guidelines during elections would risk being deregistered, an official of the National Electoral Commission (NEC) has warned. Theoneste Gisagara, the Legal Officer at NEC, made the remarks while sensitizing senior members of PSP party on election procedures ahead of the upcoming Presidential elections.

NGOMA- Political parties acting contrary to stipulated guidelines during elections would risk being deregistered, an official of the National Electoral Commission (NEC) has warned.

Theoneste Gisagara, the Legal Officer at NEC, made the remarks while sensitizing senior members of PSP party on election procedures ahead of the upcoming Presidential elections.

“Politicians should have mutual respect for each other and avoid sabotaging the elections in any way. In case of dissatisfaction, proper procedures of complaints must be followed.”

Frank Kayiranga, the NEC representative in Easter Province, requested the members of PSP to encourage their party members to participate in the elections.

“Tell the people that participating in the elections is their civic obligation,” he said. “They should know that they are responsible for building their society.”

The two-day meeting was attended by over 40 PSP officials.
