Ombudsman should not give them more time

Editor, I cannot believe that the Ombudsman, Tito Rutaremara has, once again given leaders who hadn’t handed in their, wealth declaration forms, another month to clear their names. While I’m fully certain that he has done so in good faith, I’m left wondering what message this shall send; not only to the leaders who’ve been given a reprieve, but also to those who handed in their forms on time? Why should the next batch of wealth declaration forms be handed in on time if there isn’t a clear punishment for those who refuse to fulfil their obligation?

Editor,

I cannot believe that the Ombudsman, Tito Rutaremara has, once again given leaders who hadn’t handed in their, wealth declaration forms, another month to clear their names.

I’m saying this because I know that last years wealth declaration process was supposed to end on June 30th. But its now 2010 and he’s still not received all of the documents.

I’m of the view that the leaders, without genuine excuses, should have felt the full weight of the law and not given more time.
