Reco-Rwasco’s football club Electrogaz heaped miseries to top footballing clubs as it lynched SC Kiyovu in a league clash played yesterday at Nyamirambo stadium.

Electrogaz’s winner came courtesy of Fabrice Manirambona on 72nd minute to send his side into sixth position. Abdul Mbarushimana’s side have now registered seven points in five matches played this season.

Kiyovu, coached by former APR player and later coach Capt. Jean Marie Ntagwabira, who last won the national league title in 1993 led proceedings and wasted several good scoring opportunities in the first half.

Electrogaz had goalie Emery Nshimiyimana to thank after he denied both Eric Serugaba and Pappy Nkunda with two superb saves to keep his team in the game.

The stalemate ended when Manirambona struck from a close range a left-footed shot which found its way past a static Ismail Matata in goal for Kiyovu.

The loss left Prime Minister Bernard Makuza, (who is reported to be one of Kiyovu’s main sponsors) a disappointed man and left seemingly unimpressed ten minutes before the end of the match.

Kiyovu have now dropped to sixth position with six points and have lost three matches of five league matches since Ntagwabira took over about three months ago.

Kiyovu’s loss came a day after defending champions APR lost 1-0 to Mukura while Atraco was held to a goalless draw away to Musanze.

Akite Mudeyi’s goal sunk the military side as the Southern Province giant rose to 11th position on the table standing.
It was also another disappointing weekend for the six-time league champions Rayon Sport, who lost 1-2 to visitors Etincelles at Nyamirambo stadium.

Claver Muhire and Jean de Dieu Hakorimana scored for the Gisenyi based side to keep them joint top with Atraco. Both side have 13 points and are only separated by goal difference. Pappy Gasana scored the consolation for the Blues.

Police defeated Marines 4-1 at Umuganda stadium while Amagaju defeated AS Kigali 3-0 in Nyamagabe. Fabrice Twagirimana, Leandre Sekamana, Roger Tuyisenge and Jimmy Gatete were on target for Police.

Atraco and Etincelles jointly lead on the league standings with 13 points in five matches played this season.

Defending champion APR and Rayon Sport are tied on ten points each and lie on third and fourth positions on the league standings.
