CAR Development trophy
Rwanda 12-6 Burundi
Return leg (Saturday)
Burundi v Rwanda
AFTER downing Burundi’s national rugby team-Intambwe 12-6 on Saturday, Silverbacks are now targeting back to back wins when they travel to Bujumbura for the return leg of the Confederation of African rugby (CAR) development trophy this Saturday.
Fly half Lucien Bikamba was the star-man over the weekend after converting all four penalties to give silverbacks the edge ahead of the return leg.
Intambwe started well, with their big center forwards causing problems for the Silverbacks and the first half ended with the Burundians leading 6-4 after Intambwe defender Christian Ishimwe converted two penalties to put his team ahead.
But the home team pressed on and got their reward when they won four penalties that Bikamba converted to seal the win.
Silverback’s coach Gerald Nsenga told Times Sport that although a draw will see his team go through, they will go out targeting a win.
“We are going to Burundi looking for a win and nothing else. But they have a decent team which can pounce on any mistake so we have to be conscious at the back,” Nsenga warned.
