MUSANZE – The accountant of Rwaza sector in Musanze district has allegedly disappeared with Rwf8m meant for the construction of classrooms for the Nine Year Basic Education Program.

Théophile Umuntukuwe, reportedly forged the signature of the sector executive secretary Justin Mimi, authorising the transfer of money on the sector account in BCR, to his personal account in another bank.

Police confirmed the disappearance of Umuntukuwe and said the search for his whereabouts is ongoing.

His disappearance, however, got into a fresh twist when local authorities stumbled on a suicide note he allegedly wrote, a copy which was seen by The New Times.

The suicide note says that he had decided to commit suicide in River Mukungwa after losing public funds to conmen.

Mimi on his part condemned the bank’s decision, to transfer money from the sector account to a personal account.
