Gasabo Intermediate Court has acquitted three employees of Ministry of Public Service and Labour on all charges of embezzlement.

The Presiding Judge, Fredrick Muyoboke acquitted the trio citing lack of enough evidence on the side of the prosecutor to sustain the case in court.

Muyoboke said witnesses were called against the suspects but the prosecution could not implicate the trio.
“Though the state lost the money, prosecution has failed to pin the suspects,”

The three suspects; Epimaque Kabanda, Emmanuel Gashumba and Esperance Irandigiza had been arrested after the ministry suspected them of embezzling public funds.

Kabanda was an accountant at the time of his arrest. He had been accused of pocketing money meant for journalists, a claim the prosecution failed to prove.
Gashumba was accused swindling close to Rwf11 million.
