The survivors accuse the officials of removing their names from a list of beneficiaries only to include well-off families to take up the 32 houses that were built for genocide survivors.

The President of Ibuka in Nyamirambo sector, Willy Mugabo, blamed his predecessor Jean Baptiste Rukabulandikwe for the current mess.

Mugabo, said that when he assumed office, he noticed that the list included people who were better off than others.

“Some people we saw on the list are able to sustain themselves; we replaced them with some of the orphans who are in a worse situation. This is the cause of all the mess we are seeing.”

Mugabo accuses Rukabulindikwe of only considering his friends instead of giving priority to orphans, especially students.

Rukabulindikwe is now Ibuka president at the district level.
