SILVERBACKS open their 2009 Prinsloo Nakuru 7s campaign with a tie against Kenya’s Mean Machines this morning. The national rugby team, who are making a debut in the Sevens event know that a good start is key to their hopes of winning something in the two-day event, which has attracted 23 clubs from the region.

“It is imperative that we get off to a good start because a loss will put us under immense pressure. On the face of things, we have a good chance of sneaking through to the next stage so we just have to play to our full potential,” Silverbacks stand in Coach Gerard Nsenga noted.

According to the Pool E schedule, the winner between Mean Machine and Silverbacks will take on the victors between Impala and Kenya Polytechnic.

Last year, national league champions Remera Buffaloes reached the quarters only to lose to eventual champions Mwamba of Kenya.
