Boot camp for Miss Rwanda contestants

A total of 15 Miss Rwanda 2009 finalists arrived at Lake Kivu Serena Hotel in Rubavu, last Friday for a week long in-house intensive training. According to Cleophas Kabasaiita, the corporate communications manager, it was essential for the girls to be taken away from their daily lives to a secluded place where they can learn what it takes to be a beauty queen and a cultural ambassador of Rwanda.

A total of 15 Miss Rwanda 2009 finalists arrived at Lake Kivu Serena Hotel in Rubavu, last Friday for a week long in-house intensive training.

According to Cleophas Kabasaiita, the corporate communications manager, it was essential for the girls to be taken away from their daily lives to a secluded place where they can learn what it takes to be a beauty queen and a cultural ambassador of Rwanda.

Upon their arrival at Kivu Serena Hotel, Angel Uwamahoro, the captain of the girls informed them that the theme of the pageant was beauty with a purpose and that Rwanda is looking for a young lady who will represent her both within the country and beyond.

During the training, the girls are neither allowed to go to night clubs nor take alcohol but are instead instructed to follow a strict meal plan, and go to bed as every as 9 p.m.

The grand finale for Miss Rwanda 2009 is scheduled for December 18 at Kigali Serena Hotel.
