HUYE – At least ten people from Rubavu District, Western province, on Thursday received artificial limbs at the University Teaching Hospital in Butare (CHUB).

Desire Nirambe, the coordinator of a cooperative society of people living with disabilities in Rubavu district, said the support will help improve their social welfare.

“The support will help us live independent lives, we will no longer have to rely on others to sort out our daily chores,” Nirambe noted.

“I shall be able to eat and drink by myself, and even be able to write,” said Aaron Manirafasha, who lost both hands.

Lambert Habyarimana, an official at the hospital called upon all beneficiaries to take proper care of the support extended to them.

“When exposed to high temperature, the artificial limbs get damaged easily,” he told the beneficiaries.
