MUSANZE – District authorities are set to carry out baseline survey on the social-economic situation of residents in the Northern Province.
Jean Mugabo, an official from the National Institute of Statistics of Rwanda (NISR) said the survey aims at collecting data about the population with the objective of fostering proper planning.
He was on Thursday addressing 89 agriculture engineers drawn from all the sectors of the province, who are attending a five-day training on how to carry out the survey.
The trainees are expected to train enumerators who will conduct the survey.
The survey which will be conducted within the next two weeks is being organised by NISR in partnership with the districts authorities.
Governor Aimé Bosenibamwe, said that previously the authorities have been suffering from lack of a clear picture of the social-economic indicators which has affected the planning and delivery exercise.
“There have been reforms since the last census in 2002; this survey will help us determine where we are, where we are headed and predict the outcomes,’’ Bosenibamwe said.
